Henry “Kiki” Saavedra Community Center

The Henry “Kiki” Saavedra Community Center is a Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation community center at 201 Prosperity SE in Albuquerque’s South Valley, and is the home of the first Certified Nature Explore Classroom in New Mexico. Its school-year youth programming is before- and after-school care for grades K-8, starting August 7: before school runs Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until the start of school at $92.50 per quarter or $290 for the full year, and after school from school dismissal until 6 p.m. at $137.50 per quarter or $435 for the full year, with reduced-fee scholarships available for those who qualify; the county’s registration portal lists both for ages 5 to 14. During school breaks the center runs Out of School Camps for Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at $12 a day per child, limited to 28 spots per day, with games, arts and crafts, sports and field trips, and registration opening two weeks before each camp’s first day. The center also hosts homeschool P.E. and arts and crafts classes from September through May, family Skate Nights with skates, music and dinner for $5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and free open recreation — pool, air hockey, foosball and board games — Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a parent present.
