Powered by GoogleAvoid this center: A total waste of two years. Gold Star Gymnastics is a pure money-trap that prioritizes business over athlete development. My daughter came from a competitive background (Hot Shots at CSC) and is a world record holder in hula hooping, yet the coaches here showed zero interest in her potential. We invested in double classes and summer camps to accelerate her progress, but she was stuck in their "orange/yellow" level for a year with no path forward. The "coaches" never bothered to provide targeted training or help her reach the pre-team level. To make matters worse, they gave her crushing negative feedback right to her face after a pre-team evaluation, which ultimately caused her to quit gymnastics entirely. They rely on their central location to attract new families, but they do not care about the students. Save your time and money—look elsewhere.
This business is a disgrace and gives misleading information when you register. Please avoid this place at all costs. During the trial class there were only a few students. Once we registered, the class was overcrowded. There were so many students that the girls were sitting most of the class instead of participating. That is not what we signed up for. I even tried to schedule makeup classes before my daughters missed, but they would not allow it. They said we have to wait until the class is missed. After they missed, we called to schedule makeup classes and were told nothing was available for the whole month. We were told to call back next week to try to book for the next month. So basically you wait 30 days and still may not get a spot. Because of this, we are canceling our membership and losing four makeup classes since none are available. Customer service is nonexistent. When I complained, the woman on the phone just said “ok.” No apology. No effort to help. They clearly do not value their customers.
My son attended Goldstar Gymnastics for a little over two and a half years after we moved from Oklahoma. He started at Beginner Red and moved to Intermediate Blue after about one year and six months. Unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing. In our previous program in Oklahoma, gymnastics ran in structured short sessions, and parents could clearly see progress through regular demonstrations. At Goldstar, there is mainly one annual event in April where children demonstrate their skills. During that event, I barely saw my child participate, which made it very difficult to understand his development and progress. The facility is very large, but parents rely on limited camera access and one screen (55 inch for 36 cameras). When I asked staff to help me locate my child on the screen, they were unable to assist or find my child. Because of this, it was very hard to track how he was performing during classes. Communication about progress and skill development was also unclear. Whenever I asked the coaches how my son was doing, they would simply say he was doing good (as usual US culture) and learning well. As a parent, I wanted to see actual progress or receive specific feedback. I even tried to explain my concern with an example. I asked one coach if he would marry someone just because another person told him she was a very good person and beautiful, without meeting her himself. He said he would not because he had never met her. I explained that this is how I feel when I am told my child is doing good without being able to see his performance or receive clear updates. My son stayed at the same belt level for almost a year and a half. When I checked his progress through the account system, it showed he still had several skills left to complete. However, after I questioned the staff and showed my frustration, he was suddenly approved for those skills and promoted shortly after. This made me question how progress evaluations are handled. Being in Sunnyvale, California, I also noticed that many families enroll their children in multiple activities (Due to competition and Sheep walk) with the hope of building strong skills for future academic and personal opportunities. This creates a very high demand for such programs. While this is understandable, I felt the program sometimes appeared more focused on managing large enrollment numbers rather than providing individualized attention and measurable skill development on routine basis. When children are enrolled for long periods without clear progress or feedback, it raises concerns for parents who genuinely want to support their child’s learning and growth. In addition, some front desk staff were not professional when concerns were raised. I observed situations where staff discussed parents negatively after conversations, which was uncomfortable and disappointing. I also did not receive meaningful feedback or recommendations on how my child could improve. In my opinion, the program may work better for children who already practice heavily at home, but I felt there was limited instruction, guidance, and transparency provided by the gym. I spoke with several senior staff members about my concerns, but unfortunately, I did not see any improvements.
Gold Star Gymnastics is fantastic gym that offers competitive and non-competitive gymnastics, cheer, ninja classes, tumbling, and more. The coaches are supportive and competitive teams do well. I think they have one of the best tumbling teams. Their cheer teams are impressive and different levels - up to level 3. The staff are friendly and professional and knowledgeable. The coaches are patient, encouraging, and experts at motivating kids at every level. The gym is quite full but I believe they are expanding soon. They have a good make-up policy. The facility is clean and well-equipped. Kids love it there. I highly recommend it.
Our daughter has gone to Gold Star now for 2.5 years and we absolutely love it. The staff is kind and really care about the kids. They do an amazing job helping to break down different gymnastics skills and give excellent progressions for each skill. I love the parent participation for the younger kids classes and it's been fun now that my daughter is in higher levels and is showing a true passion for gymnastics. We now also have my 2 year old son in a class and he loves it. Gymnastics is one of the sports that is foundational for so many developmental movements and I can't recommend Gold Star enough for helping kids learn those key skills.
