There’s probably three bases for comparisons with Genesis Lincoln – Racquet Club. First let’s compare it to nothing. Lincoln’s Genesis – Racquet Club; is a luxury gym (almost boutique) with towel services provided for the showers-always hot and rags to sanitize the equipment. It has many machines in the three or four dreamy floors. Many fitness studios can be found with many classes; biking, aqua (in it’s indoor and outdoor pools), and other classes, including a Pilates professional. Here is a list of classes including instructors that I’ve attended at this location: • Bodypump-Michelle • Bodypump-Ashley • LM shapes-Carrie • Cycle-Jodi • Barre-Jill The instructors were friendly and it was a good opportunity to meet new people. There are at least six squat racks / dead-lift platforms, many cardio machines in the top floor, and professionals to help with tennis. Next let’s compare it to other gyms. Planet Fitness is more of a beginner gym and Genesis while is much costlier, it is much more social than the YMCA and the likes. In the classes you can expect to meet the instructor and become acquaintances with peers near you. In the gym it’s easy to strike up a casual conversation with anybody, (I think the people at Genesis like it when the patrons talk with each other). The Racquet Club has very snazzy décor including, shiny tiles, nice carpet and luxurious shower fixtures. Finally let’s compare it to the other Genesis'. Trust me I’ve been to all five of the Wichita Genesis’ (Wichita is the headquarters of Genesis) and many other Genesis locations including Goddard KS, and the BallPark Village in Saint Louis. Out of the three in Lincoln the Genesis Racquet Club is the most luxurious at the time of this review (70th and A st. is being renovated ATM). It is a Platinum tier Genesis which makes it higher than a Gold tier but lower than a Premier trim Genesis. It is one that Genesis acquired from a previous owner and renovated it and I’m glad they confidently invested, saved the property and provided a luxurious experience for gym-goers in that area. While it’s not gigantic (88,000 square feet) like some of the other Genesis’s it is large and it can get packed at the usual busy times which can be a good thing if you like that. Genesis doesn’t have a perfect track record, there is some controversy with some of its business decisions, but I’m glad that it’s trying to survive which isn’t easy in the ultra-competitive gym business world.

When paying for the highest priced membership in town you would expect the best equipment and the most flexible hours of operation. Genesis misses the mark on both compared to their competition in town. Hours: Vasa and Crunch 24/7, Good Life 430am opening M-S and 7a on Sunday. Genesis 500am M-F, 7am Sat, 9am Sun. Everyone in the early morning crowd wants earlier. 500am causes many to have to sacrifice things they want to accomplish as they don’t have the time to get it done prior to having to get to work. Equipment: Old equipment and aside from a hack squat, nothing for squat variation especially for those with back injuries that don’t want to put a barbell on their shoulders. Competition all have belt squat, pendulum squat, and sometimes multiple of each. Furthermore the two smith machines are the oldest I’ve ever seen and are not safe to use as the bars do not stay level and will catch very often in the middle of a lift increasing risk of injury. Yes, they have a pool and cold plunge that others do not, but I would argue only a small percentage of the members utilize that. In the 18 months I’ve been going here with the early morning crowd I can easily think of 15-20 regulars that have moved to the competition for these exact reasons with very few new faces to replace them. Do better Genesis!

I love it here. People are friendly both staff and patrons. Very clean. The equipment is in great working order. The pool and Sauna are wonderful. Haven't been to a nicer gym than this one. Checks off all the boxes.

The team at Genesis Health Clubs Racquet Club goes above and beyond! The staff excels at giving members the ultimate member experience. The facility is very well kept and clean. There's a lot of amenities offered to the members and the staff are amazing at helping members make the most of the club. I love that even when it looks packed from outside there's so many different areas inside that it's never too busy even at peak times. Between the child care, group exercise classes, the pool and hydro therapy circuit and expansive weight floor, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
