Friends of Belmar Harbor is Monmouth County's community sailing centre, based at 1300 River Road on the Shark River in Belmar. It runs week-long summer sailing camps for ages 8-16 covering everything from first-time beginners to experienced sailors refining technique and racing, alongside a half-day Introduction to Sailing for ages 6-9, a Shark River Discovery Camp for ages 7-11, a Junior Sailing Program for ages 7-15 and a Marine Environmental Science program for ages 11-16 that teaches along the Shark River shoreline. It also runs an Adaptive Sailing Program to open sailing to people of all abilities, and plans high school sailing for 7th-12th graders in spring and fall.
