The training schedule is consistent and demanding — players are in the gym regularly for skill development, team practices, strength and conditioning, and film work. It’s not just workouts here and there; it’s a disciplined, organized system designed to create steady improvement over time. What stands out most is how intentional they are about college placement. The staff actively works to connect players with college coaches, put them in the right exposure events, and guide families through the recruiting process. I’ve personally seen players move on to college programs after developing within this system, and it’s clear the preparation they receive at FCP helps them transition successfully. As a parent whose son played post-grad basketball at FCP, I'll give you the real scoop. Yes, the early morning schedule for games and practices was tough to get used to, but seeing my son ENJOY basketball again made it all worthwhile. Another thing to consider is the cost. Compared to some other boarding schools that we considered and programs that can run upwards of $45k to $65k, Florida Coastal Prep offers a more affordable option and plays more games with more opportunities. But what really stood out: they took care of him. The coaches are good people and do a lot of extra things for the players also…Despite the busy schedule, my son formed genuine connections with teammates that will last a lifetime. No, it was not perfect. But if you're weighing your options for a post-grad basketball program, just know that Florida Coastal Prep has its pros and cons, like any program, but overall, it provided a positive experience for my son and our family.

I must start off by saying how great the coaching and training is at FCP. They have a fantastic group of passionate coaches who will do everything to make sure your son reaches their basketball potential and develops into a high character individual. They are realistic with the kids and show a level of connection that lasts well past their time together. Coach Deforest has developed some great players and has had many great teams, those players continue to reach out to him to this day. He’s certainly a coach and mentor.
