Our son, Ethan, has been practicing with Shawn Pfaffman at the FCSOM for over four years. Shawn has a unique way of letting the kids express themselves and grow. Ethan has learned so much as a musician and a young man. We are so thankful that Shawn and his school, FCSOM, are such a big influence in Ethan's weekly schedule. Ethan is currently enrolled in weekly lessons and is part of the Tone Revival Rock band. Ethan loves playing the guitar and I truly think that Shawn has encouraged Ethan in such a way and shared his passion for music that has far exceeded our expectations as parents. How many 13 year old kids are in a band? Have songs on iTunes? Can go home and write an entire song from start to finish? None of this would have been possible for Ethan without Shawn and FCSOM.

We enrolled him in First Coast School of Music’s summer Rock Band Camp and that is when we knew we wanted to continue with them. A great place for your student to grow musically! My son Evan is the next Jimmy Page! He has been playing guitar since he was 9 with me and the internet teaching him all we could. But, as he started getting good, my ability to teach him more was surpassing my knowledge quickly. I wanted him to play with other kids to take him to the next level. Being homeschooled he didn't have a school band as an option. I searched for quite a while around town and did my research until I came across First Coast School of Music. FCSOM is owned and operated by Shawn Pfaffman and has been everything I hoped for and more. Shawn placed Evan in a group with other like minded kids and they formed a band. Shawn provides a private lesson and an hour and a half band rehearsal each week! I wanted Evan to learn proper music theory along with a multitude of other things and FCSM has provided that a more! I can't say enough good things about Shawn and what he has going on. I would stress that anyone interested in their child playing music give him a call.
