Fine Art Starts, founded in 1997, offers summer art camps and classes for kids and teens in grades K–12 across two Portland-area locations. Camps provide drawing and painting instruction from professional artists and licensed teachers, plus sculpture, clay, pottery, cartooning, comics, manga, and mixed media, in small nature-surrounded groups.

Powered by GoogleMy daughter has done Fine Art Start after school program at her school for a year now. After her first class she immediately requested that I sign her up for the entire year. She enjoys learning new art techniques and doing fun projects that we wouldn’t do at home. We will also be doing FAS summer camps this year because we’ve loved the after school program so much.
My daughter has been participating in an after-school program since winter. This year, we missed the registration deadline and ended up on the waiting list. Luckily, Ms. Sascha kindly arranged an alternative date for us, so my daughter could continue her art classes. Her instructor is Mr. Edgar, and I appreciate his constant encouragement of children's skills and talents.
The most magical camp! Great for kids of all ages! My two children couldn’t be more different in terms of interests and they both woke up every morning so excited. The staff members are incredible and activities were so engaging! Highly recommend!
My kiddo loves both the after-school program and the summer camp. The summer camp is in a beautiful church in a forested setting. They make real art using different mediums. Not just simple crafts. I'm impressed by the art work they brought home. The staff are professional, friendly, and made me feel good sending my kiddo to their classes.
Our 6 year old daughter absolutely loves this. Ms Sascha and her staff are really great at inspiring kids to think creatively. The art studio is a great place to try your hands at everything. We really enjoyed trying our hands at pottery ourselves and even though it was our first time, it turned out really well because of the very clear and easy to understand instructions from the teachers. We highly recommend Fine Art Starts.
