Dance Fremont is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community dance school in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood, teaching ballet and modern dance since 1996. Its summer offering is a series of themed half-day youth camps running Monday to Thursday over four-day sessions, each 2.5 hours a day and ending in a showing for family and friends. Camps are grouped by age - ages 3-5 (Under the Sea, Animal Adventures, Royal Courts and Kingdoms), ages 6-8 (Ballet Stories, K-Pop Demon Hunters) and ages 9-11 (Taylor Swift, K-Pop Demon Hunters) - and mix dance with storytelling and crafts. Support from 4Culture funds reduced-cost and free access to programs.

They have a high standard, they have a positive culture, they are selective in terms of how the quality of the dancers spur one another on...but is attuned to the right level. Even though they're now located in Greenwood (so the dance Fremont moniker is kind of a thing of the past), I really believe if someone's looking for a wonderful place for their preteen or teen to be challenged and taught how to become an excellent dancer in particular for ballet, you've found the right place. My daughter dances ballet, modern and point there and has been with Dance Fremont for several years and finds a truly enriching. Can't recommend them enough!

★★★★★Sandra & MattWith ballet studios closed due to the pandemic, online classes at Dance Fremont are an excellent option to keep dancing and feel like belonging to a community. Classes usually have a live pianist, which feels extra special. Video and audio quality are very high, and the admin staff is well-organised and competent. Most important, the teachers are friendly, helpful and caring towards dancers of all ages. I highly recommend Vivian's Wednesday class, with a focus on technique as well as coordination and expressiveness. Her tips are always valuable and she is so encouraging. Since I'm not based in Seattle, I wouldn't normally be able to go to Dance Fremont. What a luxury to be able to join in that team spirit even from so far away!
