I had been taking dance for 13 years but had to stop dance classes back in October 1994 due to having ankle reconstruction surgery. I got married and had 3 beautiful children. But no time for myself, I gained about 150 pounds!!! When we became empty nesters, I wanted to do something for myself. And DbD entered the picture. When I started back in September 2025, classes had already been in session for a month. I signed up for 3 classes which I thought would be best. After my first class, I’m not gonna lie, I was so down on myself. I didn’t think anything would come back to me, I felt out of place, and just felt so mortified on how low I had gotten. BUT, the ladies in class were so helpful and the teachers were amazing!!!! I told my teachers about everything and they encouraged me, gave me tips and advice to help get me back to my old self. Since starting class, I auditioned for the Spring Ballet and got a part and I just did my first recital a few weeks ago. I’m taking summer technique classes and already signed up for fall. And…..I was asked to join Performance Team. For season 13, I will be doing Ballet Performance Team and Jazz Performance Team. It’s exciting to see how far I’ve come since September. And another great thing to announce is I’m down 53 pounds!!!!! I couldn’t ask for a better studio or teachers. The studio A-Team is always there to answer any questions and to provide any assistance I may need.
