Crimson Sailing Academy runs summer sailing camp for kids ages 11–17 on the Charles River at 45 Memorial Drive, teaching in responsive two-person Collegiate FJs and 420s. Sessions are capped at 24 sailors so instruction can be tailored to each camper, and current and former college sailors assist the coach as instructors and role models. The academy rents the Harvard University sailing facilities but is an independent business, neither sponsored nor controlled by Harvard.

My daughter just turned 11 this summer, and this was her first experience sailing at Crimson. She isn’t naturally athletic—many sports we’ve tried in the past have taken her twice as long to pick up the skills. But at Crimson, she absolutely thrived. The head coach of the Harvard sailing team, Bern, must be a magician—the way he connected with her and helped her succeed was truly impressive. We’re so grateful for this experience. Thank you!

CSA is an excellent sailing camp. My daughter started with little experience and a fair amount of nervousness, but finished the camp confident and thrilled with sailing.

I highly recommend this place to anyone whose children are interested in sailing. The coaches are helpful and are great with communicating with parents. The location is convenient if you want to send your kids to camp using public transport. The boats are in great condition and the kids learned a lot and had a ton of fun. I highly recommend Crimson Sailing to anyone whose kids are interested in sailing.

My son had a wonderful summer camp in the summer. Coach Bern and his assistants were very experienced and nice. They offered a lot of time to let kids to practice and play. My son had a great time. The highlight was the last afternoon of the program when the kids sailed with their family. My son definitely wanted to do it again! Parking was a bit problematic. Bette to drop kids earlier or reserve ample time to find a parking spot in the neighborhood. Wish they offer year-long programs, say during weekends.

My son attended this camp summer of 2018 - I found it to be superbly organized. It was hands down the best summer experience my son has had. It had just the right balance between instruction and fun. My son who reluctantly signed up for the course came home positive and happy every single day. He's developed a love for sailing which can be credited to Coach Bern and his superbly trained team. This camp delivers what it promises and I only wish there were more camps like it.
