Commonpoint Tennis and Athletic Center at Alley Pond, run by the nonprofit Commonpoint (formerly Commonpoint Queens), runs a summer tennis camp for ages 6-15 at 79-20 Winchester Boulevard in Queens Village. USPTA-certified coaches lead instruction, drills and match play, and campers also do off-court cross training and play other sports including soccer, pickleball and flag football. Commonpoint took over the Alley Pond Tennis Center in 2022 and also runs shorter tennis mini camps around holidays. Daily camp hours are not stated.

★Justin MaderApparently one person experienced in tennis hitting with a friend who is less experienced is a violation and is “private coaching”…. Sorry we want to grow the game. You guys want to gate keep the sport. Paying to play in courts that haven’t been resurfaced in over a decade is laughable. Maybe resurface your courts and someone would want to consider nyc parks inconsistent rules.
★EvaliaWe recently participated in a tennis tournament here, and unfortunately it was the most disappointing and unfair experiences we’ve ever had in tennis. My son was completely cheated out of a match that we paid for. The line judge consistently favored his opponent. When my son challenged calls, they were almost always ruled against him. When his opponent challenged calls, they were routinely given in his favor. The inconsistency was blatant. What made this even more concerning was that at the very beginning of the match, my son’s opponent was walking side-by-side with the line judge, talking to him and even touching him. It was very clear they knew each other and that the opponent likely attends the school. That alone created the appearance of bias and the officiating only reinforced it. After the match, I asked the line judge to explain some of the calls. He had no reasoning and admitted he did not even see at least one of the balls he ruled on. That is unacceptable in a paid tournament setting. To make matters worse, the front desk was extremely uncooperative. At the conclusion of the match, the front desk staff member even escalated the situation by asking both players if there was “outside interference from parents,” despite already having spoken to us, the adults. It was an attempt to shift blame rather than address the clear officiating issue. We understand that calls can be missed, that’s part of sports. What is not acceptable is consistent bias and a complete lack of accountability. We expect fairness and professionalism when paying for organized competition. That absolutely was not the case here.
★Kristi KangI’m very disappointed with the customer service I received. The woman who was working there was very rude and unhelpful. I was clearly told before that I would receive a credit if I canceled 24 hours in advance. However, this time she insisted it had to be 48 hours and ended the call abruptly. I hope the management reviews this matter and provides clearer communication and better customer service in the future.
★Joanne NaSusie, the employee who worked the evening shift on 9/28, provided the absolute worst customer service. She gave us the wrong court rental price and, even after being corrected, remained rude, dismissive, and condescending. Her response and comments were enough to make us decide not to book at all.
