The Cleveland Avenue YMCA on Rosa L. Parks Avenue runs a summer day camp for ages 6 to 12, Monday through Friday for nine weeks, with hot breakfast, hot lunch and bus transportation included. Days combine swim lessons, organized games, field trips, arts and crafts, skits and music with a devotional period. It is one of five YMCA of Greater Montgomery day camp sites.

The Lamplighters hosted a basketball workout for the boys on Saturday, and it was such a great experience. I actually attended and graduated from Head Start here, and as a little girl, I also took ballet here—so this visit truly felt full circle. There is a beautiful aquatic area that has all the accessories for adults & children, including life jackets, workout / play equipment. There are changing rooms, a fitness area, a cardio area, an industrial kitchen, & basketball court, on the historic side. The fitness & cardio areas appear to have all new equipment. On the other side is a dance studio/ classrooms, another kitchen, and an area for children to play outside. There is possibly an afterschool program for children. Mrs. Eleanor & her team are professional & provide a pleasant, safe, & clean atmosphere for workouts!

Highly recommended for anyone that may be interested in swim lessons or a nice place to bring your family to swim.
