Clara Barton Camp
The Barton Center
Clara Barton Camp is an overnight camp in North Oxford for girls ages 6 to 16 who have type 1 diabetes, run by The Barton Center for Diabetes Education. Alongside a traditional camp program, the camp provides on-site diabetes education and care from a team of physicians, nurses, dietitians and mental health professionals, with blood glucose checks stated at least six to seven times a day. One- and two-week sessions run in July and August, with a bridge weekend for campers staying across consecutive sessions, and siblings or friends without diabetes may attend at a reduced rate. The Barton Center states it is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by local boards of health, and camperships are awarded on a first-come, sliding-scale basis up to $3,500.

Powered by Google2/23/26 The counselors and handy men were rockstar. The place was a camp as expected. Snow was removed fast they accomidatedour needs. One staff person was persnickety but even she gave in and helped us honoring using an cite TV. Over all worth it. Recommended and will hopefully be back sooner then later. 12/26/25 Professional flexible service provider for rental negotiations. Great prices and beautiful inside and out. Clean and hospitable staff representative spoke from experience participating not as a worker. Which resonates well when you see people who loved the memories they've built there return to work there I will update post rental.
My family has been attending programs run by the Barton Center since my daughter was diagnosed with T1D 10 years ago. We started with a day camp close to our home. The parent program that ran at the same time as that camp was life changing. We were struggling, and spending that week with other T1D families and learning from all of the speakers was amazing. I no longer felt so alone. Next, we sent our daughter to camp weekends. My husband and I were lucky enough to get away when she was there, take a break from T1D, and know that she was safe. Now my daughter attends the resident camp each summer. I am so glad that she can spend a few weeks feeling normal and making lifelong friends. It is such a special place. I strongly urge parents to put aside any fears they have about not having control of their children's blood sugar and send them to camp!! It is so important for the parents and the child's mental health. I highly recommend the Barton Center camp programs!
The 2 weeks out of the summer that my daughter looks forward to the most is her time spent at camp clara barton. She feels at home and like she isn't different from the other kids. The memories and experiences she has from camp will stay with her forever, can't say enough good things about this place!
My name is Carl. This was the first time I have ever been a counselor for this organization. It is one of the most prestigious heartwarming camps I have ever been at. It allowed me to open my eyes and realize what I am here for. What God has given me a purpose to do. The executive director, the camp director, and the assistant director are the most heartwarming prestigious kind individual I have ever met in my life. These guys love this camp and make a fun-filled excitement camp for everyone. This place is designed for fun and understanding of diabetes. But they're also Stern and they discipline when need to. These young men and women of today understand the general purpose of what's going on with them and how it affects their livelihood. I am glad that I was able to teach them and guide them and show them a different perspective on life. Although my disciplinary actions are from the old school they also learned and understood that with fun comes disciplin and safety first. I believe that this camp is not only a prestigious five-star camp but it deserves its flowers. For 90 years it has displayed consistent love affection and understanding for those who are affected by there disability and their disease. I am glad I was able to teach children that you have a reason and the purpose to be who you are despite whatever you're going through. My love for this camp is undeniable and I cannot wait to be able to do the same thing I can't next year.
I went for the open house recently & I couldn't stop smiling! This place was awesome! The staff were so friendly and very informative! My daughter who is 10 was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I know when she is away at camp this summer for two weeks, I will not have to worry about a single thing! The program they run is amazing! I can't wait to give a second review after her two week stay in August! I am so excited for her! 2018: This is my daughter Aaliyah's 4th year at camp... She has made some great friends and really enjoys camp... The girls bring tons of stuff to make their bed and area feel like home which is awesome... (Lights, stuffed animals, pictures, etc) We always bring stuff if possible to add to the fun. We sent in silly string, water balloons, stickers, art stuff, nail polish etc so when the girls have down time they can bond... The camp is great. You really have to go and let the kids experience it... You will feel very secure when you leave. The program is ran very well and their safety is always first....
