Unorganized and incompetent.

After more than 4+ years with Clackamas United Soccer Club, volunteering several times as a Rec coach, watching my kid play in competitive, I strongly warn any parent who takes their child’s soccer seriously: look elsewhere. This is a money-hungry organization that puts fees first and player development last. Coaching is immature and unprofessional from top to bottom. Director of Coaching John Wyllie plays favorites, lies behind people’s backs, and shows blatant favoritism between rec and competitive sides. He has no idea what he is doing and this all starts with him. At rec levels, they dump heavy volunteer coaching stress on already-paying parents. They also expect families to host and take care of strangers they bring in as guest coaches — providing housing, meals, and transportation for a small kick-back. No thank you. Not every family has the time, physical or mental space, or extra money for that. Worst of all, there is no real path forward for serious players. No ECNL progression or anything close to the national platforms offered by better clubs in the area. Kids who want to get better are held back by politics and poor planning. It's actually a clown show. Save your money, time, and frustration. Choose a different club in the Clackamas/Portland area that actually focuses on fair treatment and real player development.

My kids have loved playing for Clackamas United for over 4 years now. Progressing through the club, making new friends and most of all developing a love for the sport that I grew up playing. There is really something for every player regardless of age, experience or competitiveness.

Wonderful coach & team manager. Supportive atmosphere that we have enjoyed so far.
