City of Gahanna Dept of Parks and Recreation
The City of Gahanna's Department of Parks and Recreation runs American Camp Association-accredited traditional day camps alongside special-interest camps delivered with outside partners such as Columbus Children's Theatre and Challenge Island. Traditional camps mix arts and creativity, sports and games, outdoor education and nature exploration, team building and weekly pool visits, split by age: Camp Begins for ages 4-5 (9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Friendship Park), Camp Hannah and Camp Friendship for ages 6-12 who have completed kindergarten (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), and Camp Thrive for ages 12-14 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.). Extended care from 7:30 a.m. and until 5:30 p.m. is included in the weekly fee. Most camps run in summer, with spring break and winter break options; registration opens in late February through the city's WebTrac portal, Gahanna residents first.

★anthony mckinleyWould love to play pickle ball. However, the courts always seem to be reserved by the parks and recs department so they can sell the service to someone.
★Dan craigslistAppreciate the pickle ball courts being available, and available before many other cities in the area, but I have to say, completely blocking them off to any access, 3+ days a week is bad. You aren't solving a problem here, you are creating one. Pickleball has always been welcoming to all experiences and skill levels, and I have met some great people over the last few years by showing up anytime, any day. Learned to play here and have taught many people to play since. We have been managing the community without issue for years but now 3+ days a week we have to register, pay, and only certain skill levels are allowed. It would be ok if you wanted one or even two courts but blocking all 4 is a shame. This is only discouraging the community, and breaking it up, please stop this.

★Eileen LebowitzRegarding the egg hunt Saturday at Hannah Park. The ad said “11 - 1”. we arrived at entrance at 11 they asked how old our grandson is - 8 yrs. we were directed to back parking lot out of car 11:02 it was to be held until 11:30. 11:02 it was over - needless to say an unhappy sad child and annoyed grandparents. As pulling out I asked who is in charge I was directed to a female in pink hat at the exit. I told her my issue it’s now 11:05 and her answer was there are crafts in shelter - we didn’t come for crafts. Her answer is well the kids back there are older we can’t control how many eggs they take??? I say ridiculous answer . When you advertise until 1 PM you make sure you have enough. How said they didn’t have enough for 2 minutes. Horrible
★Deanna JohnsonAfter 9 years off coming to this pool and have been there 3x already this year, we are told we cannot enter because we are Gahanna schools but Columbus taxes. They even took my ID these past couple of years and made entering the facility a total production but confirmed i could pay to enter. we stood there 10 min while they are cross referencing the auditors website. Again, we were just there yesterday. So we took our money elsewhere to another Gahanna pool that was EXTREMELY nice and didn't make a production out of a swim day. I'm glad I don't pay Gahanna taxes as I would never want to support an establishment like Hunters Ridge Pool.
