PLEASE READ: I want to like this gym because I've been paying for it and they spent a year "upgrading" and I didn't use it much during that time. Anyway, currently June 2026 and I don't see much of a difference in the weight-room. This YMCA feels more like a daycare than a gym; there are kids *everywhere* and I get that school is out but there are literal babies playing on weight machines and no parents in sight. The weight room still feels very cramped, equipment is not spread out, people are on top of each other most of the time, then you add kids in the mix it feels like a zoo. Again, I want to like this gym, but there are more issues, all of the fans are never on, so it is always warm and stuffy in the cardio/weight room. The staff don't seem attentive to making the place comfortable, clean or organized. I've never seen any staff cleaning up and I come here at different times every other day. About 2/3 of the building is dedicated to daycare/children's areas. When I was looking around I noticed there are several empty office areas which was really weird to me. I just don't feel this gym is being ran to its best ability and I hope the management team sees this review because I know I'm not the only one annoyed by the lack of comfort and efficiency. Thankfully for the Y they will always have business as a full-time daycare, but the gym is severally neglected. :/ - a very disappointed customer.

I've always loved the Y. It was a big part of my childhood because of the city I grew up in. It offered plenty of community programs and lots of benefits to lower income families. We just recently joined the YMCA of Richmond, but it has been nice to use the things they offer. The gym, the sauna, the pool, the child watch. Workers are also friendly and accommodating, to a reasonable degree.

Chester Y is great because of its atmosphere. It's very clean. This Y like many others have a lot of different programs and activities for people of all ages. Kids can enjoy their time there at the Y and parents can have a peaceful workout. I also like that when I have concerns they are addressed and solutions are presented.

My daughter and I love going to Chester YMCA together. She can do her gymnastics class while I do cardio class. It’s a good time for both of us!

Awesome Y with great facilities and incredible staff and management. Facilities are well kept and are currently finishing up some incredible renovations which have only added to the facility. Facility offers a fully equipped gym with a range of free weights, machines, cardio machines, and more. In addition to the gym, there’s a great child care program, a vast range of youth athletics teams and programs, tons of group exercise classes, a six-lane 25m chlorine lap pool. Locker rooms are great, there’s currently a male and female locker room several family or individual changing rooms. This Y is fantastic and I can’t wait to see wait the the remaining renovations will bring.
