Carefree Racquet Club in North Merrick, listed here as Carefree Tennis, runs two half-day junior summer camps on seven air-conditioned indoor tennis courts. The 10 & Under Camp runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-12pm using red or orange balls matched to age and ability, with a rotation through pickleball and half-court basketball and a 15-minute snack break. The Junior Summer Camp for ages 5-18 runs Monday to Friday 1pm-5pm, built around tennis drills followed by match play, with optional pickleball and basketball and a 30-minute lunch break at 3pm; families can attend anywhere from one day a week to all eight weeks. Registration is by printed application emailed to the club, which then calls for payment.

I showed up and they had said that I had no court booked when I had it confirmed TWICE. They sold our court to a different group of people. Actually outrages and upsetting.

My kids love the tots and red-ball programs, and it is clear that many families feel the same way. I have worked with a few coaches at Carefree and they have all been great, but I have personally worked most with Yassine over the past couple of years. He is genuinely one of the best coaches I have worked with. He helps me improve by really pushing me to focus on the small things that make a big difference. He makes the clinics fun, competitive, and interesting, and he is thoughtful and creative in how he sets things up, matches people, and adjusts when the group mix changes. I try to get into his clinics whenever I can because the drills are strong, the pacing is great, and there is a solid group of loyal and strong players who appreciate his approach. Overall, Carefree is a welcoming, well-run tennis center, and Yassine’s clinics are a standout part of that experience.
