I went as a child, nearly 12 years ago now, so I am unsure how this will be with the "now". I was bullied horrendously by my fellow campers and the counselors did nothing about it. The mail I sent home seemed to be searched and when my parents asked to talk to me, they specifically looked for a time when I was distracted for that call to happen. If your child does not like sports, do not send them here. If your child is anything outside the normal that other children will expect, do not send them here.

Camp JORI has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and truly a part of my family’s story. My grandfather, my dad, my brother, and I have all had the privilege of attending Camp JORI, making it a place that spans generations for us. I personally spent 10 incredible summers at Camp JORI as both a camper and a staff member, and today I am honored to continue giving back as a board member. Camp JORI is so much more than a summer camp, it is a home away from home and a place where lifelong memories, values, and friendships are formed. Some of my favorite memories were made there: kayaking, knot making at the waterfront, hanging out with friends, olympics, and of course all my amazing campers. Camp JORI taught me confidence, independence, leadership, and the importance of community. Even more special are the relationships that came from my time at camp. More than a decade later, I am still close with friends I met there, friendships that have grown and evolved but remain rooted in those summers together. Camp JORI has shaped who I am in ways I’ll always be grateful for, and just thinking about it still brings a smile to my face. It will forever hold a very special place in my heart, and I cannot imagine my life, or my family’s without it.

My kids spent a week at Camp Jori this summer, and they absolutely loved it. Both are neurodiverse, which can be challenging in a camp environment. But the staff went out of their way to ensure that their needs were accommodated. I would recommend this camp to anyone! (My nine year old wants everyone to know that the food at lunch was "awesome", which is amazing coming from my picky eater).

I spent 7 amazing summers as a camper at Camp Jori, and the memories I made there are still some of my favorites to this day. It’s where I tried tubing, kayaking, and archery for the first time—and even got the chance to take lifeguard lessons! More than a decade later, I’m still close with friends I met at camp. Camp Jori will always have a special place in my heart, and just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

I attended Camp JORI for many years as a camper, staff member, administrator, and volunteer. Camp JORI is such an amazing camp, helping with scholarships for families that can’t afford it while providing the same amazing experience for all children. Camp JORI is not only an amazing camp, but is truly a home away from home for me and many other alumni and current campers. I love Camp JORI so much that my wife and I decided to have our wedding there!
