Camp Coushatta, run by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana near Elton, is a free cultural heritage program held during the summer where tribal youth learn traditions, language and teamwork while sharing their heritage with the public. It typically operates as a single-day program, and about 70 Coushatta youth ages 10–17 help staff it. Visitors are welcome; larger groups are asked to call ahead.

★★★★★SCamp Coushatta is predominantly open during the summer. Non-tribal people are welcome and encouraged to attend. They have different stations throughout the camp . Each station teaches about different aspects of the tribe's traditional way of living. You can see the Palmetto huts and a dance exhibition at the end of the day. It is a very fun experience. In summer, I encourage anyone to attend and enjoy the camp.
