Powered by GoogleI have to say my stepson went here in a couple of weeks ago, and I was very impressed with the hard work and dedication that the counselors put forth to the students. They should be a applauded for their hard work and efforts.
I went there as a child. It was a camp for the blind. Now I take a disabled woman I’ve been caring for over 20years and she loves it. The counselors are the BEST.
This review is based solely on the day camp portion of Camp Allen. As an aid who accompanied my client daily to the day camp, this is difficult to write. I found the day camp portion of Camp Allen to be poorly run. There was very little communication from camp staff to the aids of campers. Daily activities were just written on a paper and placed at the main table with supplies needed for the days crafts. There wasn't any communication from activity to activity. Not even directions for crafts or when activities would start. There wasn't any info on where bathrooms were or location of the nurse's office. Where to go to cool down. The day camp is held outside under a pavillion with only 1 hour of swimming per day. Most aids would bring their own materials to keep their clients busy and occupied. I could go on and on, but I won't. I know this camp has great intentions, but I hope they will improve on communication and the way the day camp is run.
