This swim school is higher quality than anything else you will find in the Columbus area. I specifically drive 30 minutes 3x a week so that my kids can swim here. Why? Simple. My son has done the aqua tots/goldfish thing for many years. They were great for an introduction into the water, but as he progressed his technique suffered and he was never corrected. I knew we had to go somewhere else and I'm so glad I found buckeye. One of the first things I did was observe classes. One thing I noticed was that the swimming technique being taught was very appropriate for the age level. If youve never taught swimming or experienced swimming education as a whole it may seem of non consequence. However, trust me when I say this, it matters a great deal. That is how kids progress not only with skill but also with safety. What's very unique about this school and a wonderful benefit is that they have an actual swim team as well. So once you've gone for enough lessons you can try out for the swim team. Some of these other programs have something akin to a swim team, but it's not an actual competitive team that is going to meets and competing against others in their own age group. My son joined the swim team and I absolutely loved the structure of it. They have their highly competitive group and then they have silver teams for those who are looking to train at a competitive level to increase their skill without the commitment of the highly competitive group. It was a wonderful introduction to the competitive program. The coaches are all extremely supportive and have excellent swimming backgrounds. There's none of that playing favorites because some kid is better than others. My son started as probably one of the slowest kids on the team and all he ever received from all of the coaches was encouragement and support. In fact, some of the coaches even teach swim classes and one coach proposed that my son go to an advanced intermediate class where he could get in the water with him and help him on his stroke technique. I was really thrilled to be able to receive that kind of support. Speaking of teaching swim classes, did you know the owner even teaches some of the classes? I never have seen the owner of other swim schools get in the water and teach and if you watch those classes you can see she truly enjoys her craft. Anyways I've had nothing but great experiences so far So when my daughter turned four I put her in swim classes as well. I was hoping I would never have to write a review so I could keep this well-run establishment as a secret. However, I was rather shocked to see the negative reviews here So I felt I needed to speak up. I encourage you to go through those negative reviews and see the professional responses given by the owner. Furthermore, as with any sport, you get what you put into it. Sports are a collaborative relationship between the kid, the parent, and the coach. That support system is everything to the kid and when that support system breaks down that's when kids give up on sports early. Be kind, communicate and be involved and it will be a great experience.

We had high hopes for this swim school however it was a very poor experience. For starters, our child was wearing a life jacket for most of the lessons and his instructor had the kids going up and down a few times. I did not see the instructor actually teaching my child or any of the other children. As a parent, you cannot even enter the swimming area which seems fine but then becomes scary in an emergency situation. One evening, I witnessed an instructor shouting at a little boy to tears and when his mother rushed in, staff quickly intervened to forbid her from going to console her child. If you value safety and actual instruction, highly recommend looking elsewhere

If you’re looking for a swim club where kids burn energy, build confidence, and somehow still have enough left to argue about snacks afterward—this is the place. Buckeye Swim Club is basically part swim team, part life-skills boot camp, part splash zone of chaos (the fun kind). The coaches deserve medals for turning a group of wiggly, water-loving kids into actual swimmers who know what they’re doing. My kid went from “doggy paddle panic” to “future Olympian vibes” in no time. Bonus points: they come home tired. Like, actually tired. Parents, you know how rare and beautiful that is. Great coaching, awesome environment, and a whole lot of laughs. 10/10—would sign up again (and bring extra towels).

We have two kids swimming here and we are so proud of the progress they have made. Our 6 year old is participating in 45 minute swim practices now that she completed the advanced lessons. I cannot believe a 6 year old is swimming laps at her rate. Our 4 year old is close to putting all the parts together and confidently swimming by herself too. We have been to other swim places before this that hold kids back because they want to make money keeping kids moving slow through levels and Buckeye swim club is NOTHING like that. We are also excited that when they are ready do the want to compete in races it’s all the same program

My older child has been swimming here since April 2023 and my younger one since June 2024. Both children have come such a long way since beginning here at Buckeye Swim School. Group lessons are great for getting used to the water but my children excelled with private lessons. Any time anyone asks for swim lesson recommendations Buckeye Swim School is and always will be my number one recommendation! Thank you for a fun, safe, and learning filled environment!
