Full-day sessions teach children shelter building, fire-making, water gathering, animal tracking and plant identification, plus making cordage, instruments and food from nature, with daily drumming, crafts and team games. The setting includes a native-plant meadow, tipi and fire circle.

Larissa and her camp counselors create a fun, wholesome, and positive environment for kids to learn about the outdoors. Our son isn't a particularly outdoorsy kid but he had an absolute blast. They sometimes have last minute openings so don't be discouraged by the waitlist, they try to work things out when possible.

The kids do all kinds of wilderness and nature-based activities, and always come home with the coolest creations, but that honestly doesn't seem to add up to what makes the place so magical. I think it's what Larissa has built, and how her counselors are with the kids that makes it so fun for them. Even my daughter who does not particularly love day camps looks forward to Blue Turtle every year.
