Bay Club Portland has been a tremendous support for my family, especially for my son. He spent the last three months working out and studying here daily while preparing for his MCAT. Thanks to his hard work — much of it done right here at the club — he has now been accepted to a medical school in Florida. Even though he’ll be continuing his journey across the country, I’m keeping my membership because this club has become such a reliable and welcoming part of our life here in Oregon. The staff is consistently warm and professional, and the entire facility is always immaculate. Management makes sure towels are fully stocked throughout the club, and the women’s locker room is clean, organized, and well maintained. I don’t mind paying for quality when the service and experience are this exceptional. Kudos to the entire team — from the front desk to the pool staff to the laundry crew — for creating such a well‑run and comfortable environment — and they know how to welcome you with a smile.

Bay Club provides exceptional service with friendly staff and ample workout equipment, in an environment like no other in the Portland metro. With a plethora of classes, gymnasium, spa amenities, indoor/outdoor pool, Pickleball and seasonal Ping Pong, it offers multiple opportunities for staying active. The membership process was easy and efficient guided by the team member, Brody.

I signed up for bay club about a month ago, it’s okay.. I think at this price point you might as well drive the extra few minutes to lifetime in cedar hills. Pros: - tons of functional training space, unlike lifetime - has altitude training, unlike lifetime - good enough lifting and cardio equipment - nice basketball court - the MyFitFoods meal options in the vending machines are nice to grab in a pinch - the staff are mostly friendly and cool Cons: - the pool is chlorinated which means I won’t use it, sadly - I usually have a membership for the entire family, but I couldn’t fathom bringing my kids here. They’d beg to use the chlorinated pool for one, and I also find the daycare really run down looking, staff in there are off putting (think: Gen Z stare, except they’re babysitting your children…) and they put your kids on TV and Xbox. When we were at lifetime, my kids could do a swim lesson, a basketball training session or a gymnastics class while I worked out. We could spend the day there in the summer swimming, playing basketball, and then grab lunch in the cafe or order by the pool. But bat club doesn’t have a real cafe or food options here besides low quality crap - I’d like to come use the sauna when I have anxiety, but the constant aggressive vacuuming in the locker room defeats the purpose. I get it, people complain if it isn’t clean enough, but I also cannot stand a gym that makes their cleaning procedures their customers problem. I can’t effectively enjoy the space when I’m getting whipped with cords and hearing constant vacuum noise - on the noise part: my other gyms offered ear plugs because the classes are way too loud. Bay club really needs this - I usually prefer to do yin yoga 2-3 times per week but I won’t be able to do that here. The yoga instructor Dena seems fantastic at her craft, one of the better classes and sequences I’ve partaken in ever, but the studio itself sucks. So much light and noise, not zen at all, sometimes they even leave the doors open during class where you can see light and hear traffic from the main hallway? I really have enjoyed every other yoga studio I’ve ever been to, so I was sad to dislike this one. I also prefer heated yoga which bay club doesn’t have. - I wish the cafe were better and offered high quality protein smoothie options as my prior gyms have. The smoothie bar here gives high sugar/low quality ingredients/jamba juice vibes. Being able to grab something healthy, well-sourced and high quality from my gym has been a game changer in the past so I’m missing that a lot here. - I wish the personal care products in the locker room were higher quality so that I didn’t have to pack a toiletries bag. Nobody wants alcohol, fragrance and dyes in their shampoo, lotion or body wash - signage in the stretching area prohibits removing shoes for stretching and yoga, I really wish that weren’t the case. I need my shoes removed to stretch efficiently and do nervous system regulation, I’ve never been to a gym that prohibits this so that bummed me out Additionally, I was sent an upsell email less than 24 hours after signing up and before I even got my login credentials for the app, to check in to the club. I did not like that experience. Overall, I’ll stay here as long as it’s convenient to do so, but there’s not much anchoring me to this spot. I can’t point out anything that differentiates bay club in a positive way compared to other gyms I’ve been to and it’s missing a lot from my last gym that made it feel like an integrated part of my lifestyle, a home away from home. It just isn’t as cozy and I catch myself spending half as much time here as I used to spend at the gym since the value I’m getting is more “basic gym” and not “lifestyle club that takes care of all of my needs.”

I was looking for the club that is not using chlorine to treat the water in the pool. When I called, they claimed that they are treating the pool water with UV light. When I came to check, I smelled a strong chlorine odor in the pool area. After taking a water sample, I tested the chlorine level with the pool test. Excessive chlorine levels were detected. At this point, I cannot recommend this pool. Otherwise, it's a very nice club with professional and friendly staff.

Best basketball community in Oregon in my opinion. The managers here are awesome, special shout out to Brody, Austin, Jerry and Nick. Their friendly vibes instantly put everyone at ease, creating a welcoming environment. They lead by example, always bringing energy and professionalism that elevates the entire gym. Thanks to them, every visit feels like joining a community, not just a gym.
