Powered by GoogleWe've been with this ballet school for almost a year now, and it's been a wonderful experience. My daughter absolutely loves it! Max and Jacqui are both professional and friendly, creating a warm and supportive environment where students can truly grow. We've seen great progress in her skills and confidence. Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality ballet training in a nurturing setting!
I have had the honor of knowing Maximo for over 25 years, ever since he first joined Ballet San Jose. From the beginning, he stood out as one of our principal dancers, bringing unforgettable energy and artistry to every role he performed in one of the finest ballet companies in the country. Maximo’s discipline, passion, and pure love for ballet were evident every time he stepped on stage. His performances were not just technically brilliant — they were inspiring. It’s no surprise that he now pours that same passion into his students. I’ve had the absolute joy of attending the performances he and his students have staged at the Hoover Theatre. The creativity, attention to detail, and magic he brings to the sets and costumes are simply extraordinary. You can feel his heart in every production. If your daughter or son dreams of becoming a dancer, I cannot imagine a better place for them to train. Maximo is not just a master of ballet — he’s a true artist and mentor who inspires everyone around him. — former assistant to Karen Loewenstern, Chairman Emeritus
Ballet San Jose School is a true gem in the Bay Area dance community. My wife has been part of the program for the past 3 years and has performed in every one of their beautifully produced shows (and will continue to do so). The level of professionalism and care that goes into each performance is remarkable. The instructor is not only an incredibly skilled teacher, but also a deeply respected figure in the ballet world. His dedication to his students is evident in everything he does — from the quality of instruction to the thoughtful choreography and personal attention he gives to every dancer. This is a wonderful program for dancers of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to those with prior experience. Whether you’re looking to build a solid foundation or refine your technique, you’ll find a supportive, inspiring, and truly professional environment at Ballet San Jose School. Highly recommend to anyone looking to deepen their love for ballet in a warm and well-run studio!
I returned to ballet about three years ago after a hiatus and tried several studios in the South Bay Area before finding my home at Ballet San Jose School. From the moment I started taking classes here, I felt welcomed and challenged in the best way. The director, Maximo Califano, is a patient and inspiring teacher who encourages dancers of all levels to reach their potential. His commitment to his adult students is rare—he takes us seriously, pushes us thoughtfully, and has helped me grow more than I thought possible. At the same time, he has a wonderful way with children, blending strong technique with artistry in an environment that’s both disciplined and nurturing. Max is firm, but always kind, and brings humor and heart to every class. It’s no surprise that dancers come from near and far to train with him. Ballet San Jose School also offers performing opportunities for dancers of all ages. I’ve had the joy of performing in both The Nutcracker and spring productions—each experience has been incredibly fulfilling. The new studio in Little Saigon is spacious, bright, and beautifully equipped with new floors, barres, and mirrors. It’s also conveniently located near lots of great spots to grab a bite after class or rehearsal. Whether you or your child is just starting ballet or returning after time away, I wholeheartedly recommend Ballet San Jose School.
Maximo is undoubtedly one of the finest ballet teachers and dancers in the Bay Area. His teaching style is unmatched—combining structure, professionalism, and a nurturing approach. The school provides exceptional instruction in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Maximo’s patience, encouragement, and discipline make his classes ideal for both children and adults, offering the perfect mix of fun, personal growth, and serious ballet training. The new studio location at Vietnam Town Shops is incredibly convenient, with numerous coffee shops, restaurants, and even a Super Walmart right across from the studio. The space itself is stunning, featuring large mirrors and high-quality marley floors—perfect for dancers of all levels. We also love that the school produces two ballet performances each year, giving both children and adults the chance to experience the thrill of performing on stage—a truly special opportunity! I highly recommend Ballet San Jose School to anyone seeking to master professional ballet technique in a positive and inspiring environment.
