I'm taking the painting class - I've never painted before and since this is my first time I was a bit nervous. However, the way the instruction is laid out you go through stages of the painting and don't really move on until you master each stage - people can't believe it's my first painting! All the teachers are amazing and the studio provides a great atmosphere. People can't wait to get to class.

I've taken art classes at a top CA-based art atelier and many continuing education art classes at top colleges. I have been taking classes at the Atelier School of Art in Royal Oak since last year. I can absolutely say that Todd Burroughs (the wonderful artist, teacher and leader of this atelier) has put together a world-class level art school - while at the same time - keeping it approachable to anyone from any skill level (or even no level). His staff and cadre of instructors are second-to-none. This is the most welcoming art school environment that I have ever encountered. There is no judgement here - only support, guidance and inspiration. From elementary student up to older adults - this art atelier has something of value for you. Highly recommended!

Hello, Since the beginning of this year I’ve been taking Oil Painting classes with Todd Burroughs at Atelier School of Art and it has been an amazing artistic experience. Todd is not only a fantastic Fine Artist but he is also the kindest, funniest and the greatest Art Teacher. The atmosphere in Todd’s class is full of creativity and joy between each art student (we also have fun choosing music so we create a perfect mood for painting). His way of approaching Art and his knowledge about Oil Painting is been a learning process for me, not only I re-learned to paint with Oil but I also learned how to do the transition between dark and light smoothly.. Thank you so much Todd for teaching me good art quality and strong Oil Painting skills! They will stay with me forever. I enjoy being your student. I also posted a few pictures of my Art Work

Four of us rented galley space at the Atelier School of Art for an art show which was held just this past weekend-November 10th &11th. Our experience was wonderful! Todd Burroughs, the owner, and Ashley Murawa, Studio Manager and Youth Director, warmly welcomed us and made us feel at home! The space is perfect for displaying works of art! It’s beautiful, light and airy and spacious! And we couldn’t have set it up without Ashley’s expertise, energy and positivity! She is a joy! I highly recommend the Atelier School of Art!

I had the privilege of taking a week long abstract painting workshop with Valerie Allen at Atelier this summer. The workshop, and Valerie, were outstanding, but even more importantly, this school itself is a wonderful place to learn. The environment is beautiful, full of light and well equipped. The staff go out of their way to make sure the students have what they need and were so very welcoming to us all. It was a delightful experience. I had to drive 90 miles one way to take this workshop and it was so worth it - I will definitely do it again.
