Atelier School of Art is a Royal Oak art school offering oil painting and drawing classes for all ages, from youth studio through adult, and runs summer art camps for school-age children. Classes are kept to around ten students so campers get one-to-one attention and guidance, and materials are included in the monthly fee for the Youth and Teen Studios. The school teaches from elementary level upward and frames its summer camps around creativity, mindfulness and emotional growth.

However, the way the instruction is laid out you go through stages of the painting and don't really move on until you master each stage - people can't believe it's my first painting! I can absolutely say that Todd Burroughs (the wonderful artist, teacher and leader of this atelier) has put together a world-class level art school - while at the same time - keeping it approachable to anyone from any skill level (or even no level). His staff and cadre of instructors are second-to-none. This is the most welcoming art school environment that I have ever encountered. There is no judgement here - only support, guidance and inspiration. From elementary student up to older adults - this art atelier has something of value for you. Highly recommended!

Todd is not only a fantastic Fine Artist but he is also the kindest, funniest and the greatest Art Teacher. The atmosphere in Todd’s class is full of creativity and joy between each art student (we also have fun choosing music so we create a perfect mood for painting). The workshop, and Valerie, were outstanding, but even more importantly, this school itself is a wonderful place to learn. The environment is beautiful, full of light and well equipped. The staff go out of their way to make sure the students have what they need and were so very welcoming to us all. It was a delightful experience. I had to drive 90 miles one way to take this workshop and it was so worth it - I will definitely do it again.
