The W. Alton Jones Campus is a 2,300-acre University of Rhode Island property in West Greenwich with a 75-acre lake and miles of trails, offering nature-focused day and overnight camps. Day campers ages 5-8 explore farm life at Woodvale Farm and ages 8-12 study forest and pond ecology at Eco-Zone, while overnight campers ages 9-13 take on marine study, backpacking, and adventure trips. The campus is reopening in fall 2026 under a URI-DEM partnership.

They have so many fun programs available as of my favorites were living history ,predator-prey ,and underground railroad. The cabins are very clean and mostly newly renovated. They serve good food family style at 8am 12noon and 5pm with a snack at 7:30pm. I hope this review was helpful.

The best part about camp is letting the kids go off on a new adventure without the Spectre of their parents looming over them. They gain independence, and self reliance, they unplug and at times they get uncomfortable both physically and mentally. Challenges they aren't always faced with these days.

★★★★★Robin McleanWhat a great place for a wedding! Although I was not in charge and there may have been things I was unaware of, everything I saw was wonderful. We had about 100 guests for a fairly casual but very nice event and AJC really made it work. Every time I turned around, there was more good food, another beautiful setting, plenty of things to do and a smart mix of adult and college staff to make it all work. Our rooms were modern enough for comfort but rustic enough for the camp setting. Our meals were maybe a bit rich for a spa, but perfect for a celebration. The pond was both perfect backdrop and a fun place to canoe around. The weather ready 'Party Porch' was huge and let about 50 kids dance with a full band and plenty of elbow room to spare. The dining area was formal enough without breaking from the camp feel throughout the complex. Minor complaints included the computers going down for a couple hours and a next door room fan that went on and off all night. Also, there were mosquitos in the woods, but not bad at all in the main grounds. Overall...that's not much to quibble about. Well done URI and AJC.
