305 Sports Basketball Academy is a youth basketball program for ages 4–17 with multiple locations across Miami-Dade and Broward. Its week-long summer camps focus on basketball fundamentals, training, games and tournaments, with daily strength and conditioning done through bodyweight calisthenics. The organization also runs recreational and competitive leagues, travel teams and private training year-round.

Powered by GoogleMy son has played at Bird Lakes Park since 2021. 305 provides a great atmosphere for the kids to learn and develop a strong love of the game of basketball. Amazing coaches focus on fundamentals and sportsmanship at every age level. This is seen outside the lines as well, as parents are respectful and encouraging to all players, unlike other leagues in Miami. Not only has my son benefitted from improving his basketball skills, he’s also gained great friendships. 305 is truly an organization built on fundamentals, character, and family.
I am sharing my experience so other parents can be fully informed. I enrolled my son, who has special needs and for whom I am the legal caregiver, for one season only. When I realized the program was not a good fit, I personally called and spoke directly with the owner, Laz, to cancel. During that conversation, I explained my son’s learning disability and the challenges he was having. Instead of showing understanding, I was told that there were younger kids who were “smarter” and could keep up better, which I found deeply inappropriate and insensitive when discussing a child with disabilities. After that call, I believed the account had been canceled. As parents, we trust that when we speak directly to the owner, the matter is handled properly. Unfortunately, charges continued to be made to my son’s card for months after he was no longer attending practices, games, or receiving any services. At no point did anyone contact us to ask about his absence, verify participation, or address the continued billing. We only discovered the ongoing charges later, which totaled a significant amount. When I raised the issue, I was told we could “negotiate” the amount instead of immediately correcting the billing. This is extremely troubling, especially because this is money designated for my son’s care and services as a child with special needs. Programs that work with children — particularly those who present themselves as mentors and leaders — should operate with transparency, compassion, and integrity. Parents place trust in youth organizations. My experience did not reflect the level of responsibility or sensitivity that families deserve. I will not stop. Until he returns every dollar BACK into to my son's account. It's sad how somebody can use. It's fifteen year old boys funds to pay for his personal expenses. I encourage other parents to carefully monitor billing and get all cancellations in writing.
My son absolutely loves 305 Sports Basketball Academy! The coaches are professional, patient, and really know how to connect with the kids while pushing them to do their best. The program builds not only basketball skills but also confidence, discipline, and teamwork. I’ve seen a huge improvement in his game and attitude both on and off the court. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a safe, fun, and motivating place for their child to grow!
This is an honest review. My son Andrew is 7 y/o, he has been training in a swim team in Miami since 5 but he decided to also try basketball. After a long review and choosing which place to go we decided on 305 Sports Basketball Academy. Andrew had no clue about this sport but during the two months he was there the development and perfection of skills were amazing. Everyone noticed, including family, in school and parks. The coaches at the Hoopers Gym are ALL amazing and very professional. Unfortunately due to my work contracts and schedule we will be absent for a year, but once we come back, we will definitely go back to the Hooppers Gym.
We’ve been with 305 sports for a year now and I couldn’t be happier to be part of this sports family. My son has several challenges when it comes to being in teams/ groups. We tried another academy but it just wasn’t a good fit. At 305, my son has bed. Paired with the most patient of coaches that never give up on him, constantly just cheer him on, and are just overall good, caring coaches. My son tried out for school team and the coaches their asked who was teaching him bc of the good technique he had, which speaks to that fact that 305 is not just a welcoming place but also a place to gain needed skills. Very happy we found this group.
