The Zina Garrison Academy is a Houston 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides a free, year-round tennis, fitness and education program for children ages 4-18, running roughly 45 weeks of programming a year. Alongside tennis instruction, participants get college preparatory classes, wellness and nutrition lessons, mentoring, interactive garden instruction and ACE training. Founded in 1992 by Houston-born tennis professional Zina Garrison, and tracing back to John Wilkerson's free MacGregor Park program, the academy says it has served more than 45,000 children and is funded entirely by donations and grants.
