Youth Sports Virginia Training Center runs gymnastics summer day camps at its Woodbridge multi-sport complex, where campers do gymnastics, jump rope, trampoline, tumbling, arts and crafts and movies with a new schedule each week. The core Gymnastics Camp is open-enrollment for ages 5-12 and runs Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, for ten weeks across the summer; a half-day option ends at noon, and daily drop-in rates are offered. Specialty weeks add Jump Rope, Tumbling, Cheerleading, and Boys' and Girls' Team camps, some open to ages up to 18. Campers bring a bag lunch and two snacks; coaching staff are SafeSport- and safety-certified USA Gymnastics professional members.

Powered by GoogleI am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and overall operations at this gym. The woman working at the front desk today was very rude and spoke in a condescending tone. Normally my husband takes our daughter to her class, but he had a dentist appointment today so I attended instead. After this experience, I honestly would have pulled my daughter out of this gym immediately. The substitute/manager I spoke with initially provided me with inaccurate information regarding my daughter moving up to the preschool class. Later, when I spoke with the front desk employee, she told me the teacher had been giving parents the wrong information all day and proceeded to reprimand the teacher in front of everyone when she returned. It was very unprofessional to witness staff correcting each other publicly. Afterward, the teacher attempted to backtrack by saying my daughter needed a lot of help. This had never been mentioned during the earlier conversation about the preschool class, especially considering there were only two children in the class at the time. This was also the first and only time this teacher had ever worked with my daughter. Her regular coach, Shay, was on vacation. Honestly, Coach Shay seems to be the only person holding this place together. The staff turnover is extremely high, which is very concerning. Considering the cost of tuition adds up to well over $1,000 per year, there should at least be some type of progress notes or communication system in place so parents receive clear and consistent information about their child’s development. When I called back to speak with a manager, the same rude front desk employee transferred me to the same teacher she had just reprimanded — presenting her as the manager. This only added to the confusion and lack of professionalism. Lastly, the facility itself is very outdated and unclean. There is a noticeable odor when you walk in, and the floors and equipment appear dusty and dirty. The cleanliness of a gym where children are constantly on the floor should be a top priority, but that clearly is not the case here. Because of this experience, they will not be receiving any more tuition from us.
I was there and it was the best my teammates and coach mindy and coach Pete and coach jasmine and coach Shay they where all the best
Our daughter is 8 years old she has been going to Youth Sports for the last 3 years. She has moved through the various practice teams and started her first year on the competition XCEL team this past September. We have personally watched our daughter grow from knowing nothing about gymnastics to being on a team and winning various medals at competitions. We really love what Youth Sports has done to help our daughter grow as a gymnast and as a person in general. Everyone at the gym is very nice and encouraging. We started our 3 year old son as well in January and hope to watch him grow with Youth Sports as well. Coach Shay and Coach Jasmine have been especially encouraging. Coach Mindy is a pro and gets the results out of the children.
The operation needs an upgrade. My kid was referred twice to move from beginners to intermediate class.I left my name and phone number at the front desk on several occasions to be alerted when a time slot opened up. During one of my regular weekly checks in, I found out that they had a slot open (did not get the call). Anyway, I sign my kid up for the long awaited intermediate class and was told she could start on the 29th. Guess what, she was kicked out of class because the payment was for the month of May. The management team needs to be on the same page about their operation. I wasted a day and went home with a disappointed kid. Do better. UPDATE: I received a call from the owner, who apologized and made it right. Needless to say my kid likes the coaches and does not want to move gyms. So we’re there every week for 2 hours. Thank you.
I'd give zero stars if I could. My experience with this place was disheartening to say the least. I called ahead to inquire about the gyms ability to accommodate kids with ADHD. I spoke to Mindy about a month ago and more recently spoke to another worker to schedule a visit. During both calls I disclosed the situation and both times I was told, it's ok. We attended the trial class today and were not received in a welcoming way. My conversation with Mindy was not pleasant and when filling out the release form the man at the front desk was rude. I ended up pulling my child from the session and leaving. It's unfortunate. If a parent is thoughtful enough to call ahead and have a personal conversation about their child, please be kind enough to let them know you cannot accommodate their child in a respectful way.
