Powered by GoogleYSTA has been the perfect place for my kid to learn and grow. The kids work hard and get to be part of a something they're really proud of, learning about acting AND the elements of professional production all at the same time. They learn the value of hard work and have so much fun doing it. I'm so glad we found this place.
My daughter (age 15) had an amazing experience this summer at Young Stars. She's worked with 5 different theatre productions over the past 10 years and was craving a fun, but challenging, end-of-summer experience. During their 2-week "Mary Poppins" camp, they cast, costumed, blocked, rehearsed and ran through a FULL show. The kids worked hard, received notes, and were expected to rehearse at home so if your budding actor is craving a "level up", this is a great summer option!
My daughter has always loved theater, and after spending a few years with another program, we decided to try Young Stars Academy so she could attend camp with a friend. From the very first day, I could tell she had found her place. She came home very excited, talking about the fun she was having and the friends she was making. She has done 2 summer camp sessions so far. She was thrilled to be cast in a great role for her very first show, and I was so impressed by how talented, supportive, and welcoming the kids and staff were. You can tell the students really bond and work together, and the show they put on was fantastic, full of energy and heart. Young Stars Academy has been such a positive, inspiring experience for her. She’s made wonderful friendships, grown in confidence, and we are so grateful to have found this theater family - we will definitely be back!
Three years ago, we drove past Young Stars Theater on the night before auditions for Matilda. My daughter, then nine, begged to audition and I caved and let her do it the next morning. I had no idea that by chance, we stumbled into the most extraordinary training for both musical theater and life. We now have two daughters in the program, one nearly twelve and one now eight but who started at six. I cannot rave enough about YSTA and what it has done for their confidence onstage and off. The shows this team produces are nothing short of exceptional. I used to be embarrassed to ask friends and family to come to my kids shows at other theaters - now I am immensely proud as these shows are seriously great. My kids have grown so much in these shows. The cross age approach, spanning from as young as five to as old as eighteen, is magical. It builds such an incredible and safe community. In an era where kids are anxious and overly online, being a part of YSTA is the most incredible gift we can give our kids. If you are looking for exceptional musical theater training, do it. If you are looking for a community for your child to thrive in, do it. If you are the parent of a clear theater kid, do it…but if you are a parent of a shy kid, also do it. It will grow confidence by leaps and bounds and help them to thrive. I am beyond grateful for and impressed by YSTA and so thankful that I listened to my daughter all those years ago and took a chance.
My kids and I just love YSTA! My daughters have grown so much as performers and always look forward to the entire process of putting on a show. The staff are very friendly and nurturing, and they do a great job creating a supportive yet professional environment. It’s an ideal balance of fun and discipline, making it a great place for kids who are serious about theatre or are just discovering their love for performing. I highly recommend YSTA to any family looking for a positive, enriching, and truly community-centered performing arts experience for their children.
