This YMCA is so dirty and dilapidated. The 3rd floor is a mess... it looks like it never gets cleaned, and the equipment is on its last legs. The "new" gymnasium is always dirty. The floor is filthy and there is often garbage left lying on the floor and bleacher area. I've watched kids spit on the floor as they play basketball like it's nothing. We were paying a monthly membership only to be told that we'd have to rent the gym if we wanted to use it because guys shooting a basketball around would get priority (even though it was not an actual basketball practice or event... just an open gym type thing). I haven't been in the "old" gym in years, so I can't speak to that. There is one lady at the front desk that has been pleasant, but every other desk worker I've encountered has been rude. Years ago, when I took my kid for swim lessons, the lifeguard was eating peanut trail mix by the pool and then touching all sorts of stuff as they milled around. My child has a life-threatening peanut allergy and when I asked the lifeguard if their trail mix had peanuts... they said "some" - like they couldn't tell the bag was FULL of peanuts. I took my child and left. Hives were developing while in the water, which is what alerted me that something was up. When I approached the desk ladies about it, they made the comment that their lifeguards need to eat. Well, they shouldn't be eating in the pool area (where there are literally NO FOOD signs hung up). And if my child would have needed rescued and needed CPR... even with a mask to "protect both parties"... it likely would have killed my child. Granted, you can't police what people eat and I know they have party rentals and what-not... but good gosh. Don't eat BY the pool where food could literally fall into the water. We did not return for several years after that incident because I was very overwhelmed adjusting to life with a peanut allergy and dealing with those types of incidences... but finally decided to give it a try again a couple of years ago (and the lifeguard on duty was eating practically a full meal when we went!). As you can see from the beginning of my review... it wasn't worth the try... and we canceled our memberships.

If you're looking to swim go somewhere else because they're having lifeguard problems .......honest to God 3 days in the last week told me the pool is open and I go over there and it's not open.... I'm glad I ain't driving down here to Clearfield I'd really be upset..... Seriously this is really bad business... This is nothing new this has been going on... I've left for reviews about this at least two or three times in the last year....this is nothing new.... It seems to me that the Y don't care about the seniors cuz the only people that's really affects is the silver sneakers people..... they got a lifeguard for the class if you can't do the class too bad.....

Was in the lap lane when struck by another, unknown and realized, swimmer. The head lifeguard did nothing about this. She said I had to share the lane. I explained that I do two strokes which might interfere with another swimmer. The guard threatened to pull me from the pool and asked if I wanted to fight her. The program director said I was never to return to the 'Y'. I tried contacting the director several times about these actions, but he NEVER returned by request.
