It's an absolutely hidden gem with all the perks of camp that only rich kids' parents can afford. It's on some hundred feet lake front on a beautiful island in Vermont. It's a very old camp with traditional wood cabins, main halls and just what you expect from the camp experience. As a NYC kid who went to both YMCA camps and expensive camps, walking around Camp Abnaki brought me back to the best times of my life in camp. I don't know what expensive camps are like nowadays, but the rustic and rural setting right on the water can't be beat. The counselors went above and beyond and the camp director is 100% behind the campers' experiences. I used to stay in the area at a local hotel for a few days before and after picking up my sons since the area is so unbelievably pretty and pleasant in summer. Highly, highly recommend.
