Wintergreen Adaptive Sports is a nonprofit that teaches skiing and snowboarding to people with disabilities at Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County, Virginia. Lessons are planned around each student, often with one to four volunteer instructors per student and adaptive equipment such as sit skis and tethered bi skis. Students of all ages take part, children included, and in the 2025-26 winter the program relaunched an adaptive race team that paired young athletes with disabilities with college mentors. The program serves students with physical, cognitive, developmental and emotional disabilities, and it also offers adaptive paddling in summer.
