I remember going to the Boys and Girls Club every day for years. I made friends, played all kinds of games, got help with my homework when I needed it and learned a bunch of different things from making paper from scratch, doing karate, playing in drum circles, learning games like mancala and foosball; and so much more. I broke my ankle on the soccer fields, went on field trips over the summer, learned more about using computers and watched the whole Avatar: The Last Airbender series three times over. I laughed, cried, learned, and most importantly, I lived. The B&G Club was the one place I can remember truly being myself when I was a kid. The place that I never felt I had to suppress who I was or put on a mask for anyone to like me. I could always find a group that fit the vibe I was going for whether it was loud or quiet, creative or mundane, active or chill. I never felt pressured to do anything and I was always given a choice in my day to day activities. If I wanted to expand my horizons, I could sign up for new groups like gardening or video games. If I felt I was too busy or overwhelmed, I could go chill in the main room and just do me. We were allowed to bring our cd players and head phones and could use them as long as we did our homework and didn’t disturb anyone. I can honestly say that a lot of my best childhood memories were at the Boys & Girls Club in Monroe, GA.
One of the best places in Walton county. Staff is amazing and it’s a great experience.
I went here from when i was either in 1st or second grade to 5th grade full time and only on fridays in 6th. I am speaking as minor because ,well I'm a minor, this place was either pretty ok for a couple weeks then utter emotional abuse. And i am glad that i no longer need to attend.
