Wagon Train Summer Camp

My boys when to wagon train back July 30 through August 5th of 2023. My boys had the worst time of their life there, they talked about it constantly of a place that they will never want to go again. the staff refused to allow them to call home. they were sick, not to mention they were gave my oldest medicine that was not approved by my wife and i, my middle boy was completely sick and tried to get some decent food and the food up there was the worst and they felt like they where in prison! They had to use the remaining money from the allowance card I gave them just to survive.If my wife and I knew at the time we would have gone up there immediately and pulled them from the place. I remember when I went there as a kid it was so much fun but when I come up there to pick up our boys crying and filthy from head to toe. My wife and his heart was broken we will never allow our children to be anywhere on Hume lake ever again. The staff at that time unbelievable. How can I camp go downhill so fast and I am truly ashamed and bothered that I sent my boys there and they come back with such horrible stories. My children have always been very versatile and able to handle a lot of situations but to hear the stories that they provided is unbelievable. I really hope the officials there get their act together.

I’m glad to see the wagons are still training kids to meet new people and experience new and exciting outdoor adventures, it’s been many years since I attended wagon train Christian camp, not once but two summers in a row, I had some of the most memorable times all those years ago, and still think about the good times I had to this day! I was working near by and when I saw the wagons still there. it brought back even more memories and I just had to say, I’m really glad to see it’s still holding up it’s reputation. Thank you wagon train!!! And if you have the chance to send your kids to this place, they will always remember and no matter how scarred they might be at first to get left at some strange place with people they don’t know, by morning they will be so happy you left them there. they will wish to never be picked back up… we’ll not for a while at least, they will be begging to return every year after.

We loved Wagon train! The staff were amazing. So talented, too! Very well organized and so much to do: archery, bb guns, canoeing, repelling, hiking, swimming, and so much more. The food was good camp food. The wagons are fun but a little snug, and there are no doors (only curtains), so it got really cold on us (we were there in June). The biggest issue was the bathrooms (specifically the girls). 6 stalls and 6 showers for over 100 girls. They have a new counselor bathroom, but it was super small and not as close to some of the wagons. Overall, it's a great place to be!

Awesome camp for 8-11 year olds. It's secluded and private, away from the main lake area. The kids are safe and free to explore within the camp boundaries. There is Fort Logan, the flying fox (zipline) and kayaking at the pond, food, drinks, crafts and souvenirs at the Trading Post, a big 3-level Tree House, Hermit's Cave, a Pool, a Giant Swing, Giant Checkers, Human Foosball and the Gaga Ball pit. Camp is structured throughout the day to include meals, chapel meetings, trail guide activities, free time, team recreation and fun skits. The best part is how they present the gospel in a serious and real way and give many opportunities to the kids to accept Christ and/or rededicate(refocus) their lives. I attended as a camper over 25 years ago, and just came back from a week up there, serving as a counselor for my son to attend. It brought back many great memories, as well as allowing creation of new ones.
