Virginia Children's Theatre is a Roanoke 501(c)(3) and the only professional theatre in Virginia dedicated solely to youth, schools, and families. Its Theatre Academy runs summer camps for grades K through 12, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon (with Friday extended to 1:30 p.m. for a closing showcase), held at First Christian Church on Church Avenue, and it also runs a week in Rocky Mount. Camps mix music, theatre, and dance and are pitched at both serious aspiring performers and children who simply want to try it.
