★★BrennaOur family has attended Trackers camps for the past three years, but 2026 will very likely be our last. The North Oakland camps are significantly more expensive this year while offering fewer hours. In 2024 and 2025, camp hours were 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, which was already challenging for working parents (albeit, after care is available for an additional cost). In 2026, they've been reduced further to 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. For families working full-time, it's difficult to justify the cost for only about five hours of coverage per day (especially when factoring in commuting times). The camp works out to roughly $27 per hour for our age group and our camps (we registered early, not sure what the current fees are closer to summer). At that price point, many families may find that hiring a caregiver or choosing another camp provides better value and flexibility (especially if you have more than one child). In addition, we've also found that the program is not as supportive of neurodivergent children as it was in previous years. We chose not to enroll one of our children this summer because our recent experiences suggested that the level of support available was no longer a good fit for their needs (our child has mild/moderate ADHD). This is particularly disappointing because support for neurodivergent children was one of the reasons we originally chose Trackers, and our experience in 2024 reflected the positive reputation the camp had earned in this area. In recent years, however, that support appears to have declined. Our neurotypical child will attend one final year because there are still aspects of the program they enjoy, and we've had many positive experiences over the years. However, the combination of rising costs, reduced hours, and diminished support for neurodivergent children means we can no longer recommend the camp as enthusiastically as we once did.
★★★★★Rachel TownsendMy two sons have done a number of Trackers programs over the years and we love them! They are engaging and enriching - at times hiking my boys will bring up something they learned from Trackers. The staff are also very friendly and help to make the program rewarding for all!
