My son has been in Cub Scouts for 4 wonderful years and this was by far our best camp experience. It created some of the best memories I have experienced with my son and I will cherish these memories forever. The staff is amazing and so passionate about what they do. They are amazing with kids. Camp Tomahawk is a blessing! Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Jack (sioux camp director) was great with my child, who is autistic, was able to have a conversation with her (her actually replying back to Jack, was a astonishing, mom and leader (troop leader has knowed child for 8 years) were both very surprised!!!) and helped to give a pep talk about archery first 🎯 and then went out of his way to meet us at the wall climbing and redirect her into at least trying both archery and climbing wall and she did it ,she participated both times , you're the best Jack !!😀 if you can't tell by the smile on her face ☺️ you helped her with an experience we as parents and leaders could not ( we were trying ,but she was not having any part of the conversation or replying to us ), and gave her the confidence in herself to even try , we are so proud,.Keep up training for all kiddos with any kind of needs , it shows in all you do. Thanks is not enough, but THANKS we appreciate you.!!! from the Cecka family & Troop 7435 😃😄🎯(🧩🧩🧩 not the right color puzzle but you get it )
Great Scout camp to spend a week at and earn various merit badges. Many great programs to challenge Scouts abilities.
So many memories from going to Tomahawk every summer that I don't know where to start. This next summer (2021) will be my 20th season attending Tomahawk, if I include all of my years as a youth -- six as a Scout, and what will be fourteen serving as an assistant Scoutmaster in the same troop I grew up in. While Sioux Camp is what I often call my summertime "home away from home," all of the staff throughout the reservation are fun to be around, and they really know how to shell out a great experience for youth campers. If you're lucky to score a campsite on the western shore of Long Lake, take some time to enjoy the spectacular vistas during sunset -- they're second to none! Food options are what your Scout unit makes of it: you can get the camp's "muck truck," where food can be delivered to a camp site in heater stacks, or units have the option to prepare food themselves. Merit badge offerings and programming for older Scouts are satisfactory to keep everyone motivated and engaged. Tomahawk also offers winter programs, from a general experience of taking part in winter games and activities (Snow Huskies), to dog sledding, to building your own snow quinzees and sleeping in them overnight (Spearhead). Overall, Tomahawk is the premier camp of Northern Star Council and is always a fun place to return to each year!
