The Science Vortex of the Verde Valley is a free children's STEAM center and hands-on science museum in downtown Cottonwood, serving children roughly ages 2-14 with interactive exhibits including a working wind tunnel, ball run, topographic sand station, a rocks and minerals area and a little-learners section. The nonprofit is a hub for rural STEM education in the Verde Valley and runs seasonal programs including an Eco-Explorers camp. Admission to the museum is free with no membership required.

I brought my 3.5 yr old on Saturday morning and we only saw 5 other kiddos. She played with the wind tunnel & scarves, the ball run, topographic sand station, rocks and minerals, and one of the other patrons was super cute playing doctor with her in the little learners section. You do not need a membership to visit. I HIGHLY recommend this place for those little brains!
