My family had a very disappointing experience at this location due to inconsistent information and poor communication between staff members. On June 14, after our 10:45 a.m. class, we spoke with staff about canceling our membership and using our remaining makeup tokens before the cancellation period ended. We were told that we could use those makeup tokens without updating our expired payment information and were even provided with a list of classes we could attend between June 14 and July 14. Based on that information, we brought our child to a makeup class on June 16. During that visit, a staff member informed us that the makeup tokens could not be used because the card on file had not been charged, which directly contradicted what we had been told on June 14. The situation became even more frustrating on June 17 when we arrived for another class and were told that our child could not participate until the payment information was updated and the card was charged. We explained that we were simply following the instructions previously given to us, but our child was still denied entry. What made this experience particularly disappointing was that the issue appeared to be the result of internal miscommunication, yet our child was the one affected. A temporary accommodation while the matter was clarified would have been a much more reasonable and customer-focused approach. We understand that policies exist, but clear and consistent communication is essential. Being given conflicting information on June 14, June 16, and June 17 and then being turned away at the door created an unnecessary and upsetting experience for our family. We hope management takes steps to improve communication among staff and handles similar situations with more professionalism and empathy in the future.

If you are a parent of African descent, I would strongly encourage you to carefully consider whether this is the right school for your child. My daughter has attended this location since she was 2 years old and is now 5. Over time, there were frequent class cancellations, especially around holidays and other occasions, which led me to decide to cancel her enrollment. About a month ago, my husband attempted to cancel the classes, but we were told their system was down and they could not provide the necessary cancellation paperwork. Two weeks later, I was contacted about updating the credit card on file. During that conversation, I explained my concerns about the lack of communication. The director told me I needed to update the card information anyway, but assured me that I would not be charged and that I could still use my 11 makeup tokens. Because I was busy at the time, I requested a callback. On Sunday, June 14, I attended class with my daughter and again asked to speak with someone regarding the situation. I was told someone would get back to me. About 30 minutes later, I received a call apologizing for the delay. During that conversation, I was told that I could use all 11 makeup tokens through July 14 and that I did not need to put a card on file because the staff had failed to respond when I originally tried to cancel. I was also told that my daughter could attend Tuesday and Wednesday classes, as well as her regular Sunday class, until all makeup tokens were used. Today, my husband brought our daughter to class, only to be told that she was not allowed to participate. My daughter was left in tears. When I called for an explanation, I was told that no staff member had communicated the arrangement to me and was essentially accused of being dishonest. When I expressed my frustration, I was told that I was being "too loud" and "aggressive." The director acknowledged that staff had made mistakes and that no one had followed up with me appropriately, yet they still refused to honor the makeup tokens as previously promised. Despite acknowledging that I have 11 makeup tokens available, they would not allow my child into the classroom. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism was extremely disappointing. If you value clear communication, consistency, and respectful treatment of parents and children, I would recommend looking elsewhere before investing your time and money here.

This place is really special. My daughter has been taking gymnastics for a month and I can really understand the reason behind so many comments on the staff. Coaches and staff are just the best, really sweet and friendly with the kids and want to make their time their fun and welcoming. My daughter is five and shy around strangers, but the coaches make her feel like she belongs and she loves going there. 10/10 recommend.

The entire team at Little Gym UWS has created a safe, loving, and open environment for our children. The commitment and patience they demonstrate is unrivaled. This is a fun place for kids to be kids, make mistakes, tumble, grow, and thrive. Little Gym staff take the time to get to know our children, meet them where they are and recognize their progress against their own benchmarks. I am eternally grateful for their ability to see my child as a child and an individual in a world that is often filled with those who talk the talk but don't walk the walk on being child-centered.
