The Front Porch
Private
Summer music camps at The Front Porch, a nonprofit community music school, concert venue and outreach organization on Water Street East in Charlottesville. Camps for ages 4 to 7 combine music, art, creative play and outdoor exploration at IX Art Park, while Teen Band Camp has teenagers form real bands, write songs, rehearse with professional teaching artists and perform live. The school also runs private lessons, group and kids classes, weekly jams, workshops and free youth programs.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact The Front Porch directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

They were really nice at bluegrass jam.
Alash was OUT OF SIGHT! What a treat-- to listen to such enormously talented singers and musicians from halfway around the world. Their hypnotizing performance transported me to the Central Asian steppes. I brought my high-school students to the show, and several of them said, independently, some version of: "This was the best night of my entire life!" That may sound like teenage hyperbole, but it was a magical night. Thank you, Front Porch!
An incredible show, and I raise a glass to the Front Porch for having Alash here in Charlottesville. My jaw dropped during the first song and stayed that way through two sets. A powerful night of music in a room with flawless acoustics. Thanks!
Scott Miller was at The Front Porch Friday night, and the show was terrific in every way. Thanks to the Front Porch for bringing this great singer-songwriter back, and for all they do to support music in my town.
