The Colorful Palette is an art school and studio at 1640 Bayshore Road in Villas, run by artists Joel Adas and Helen Selsdon under an 'Art for All' approach that is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Children's and adult classes work in oil and tempera paint, pencil, charcoal and mixed media, with students guided through the creative process rather than copying a set piece. The studio also hosts open studio afternoons, sip-and-paint nights and birthday parties; no summer camp session is listed on the site.

Guys. If you are in Cape May and looking to have a lovely time I strongly recommend booking a paint and sip at the Colorful Palette. Joel and Helen were hilarious, supportive and patient with our group. We left with smiles and beautiful paintings to remind us of a wonderful weekend.

Had the best experience at The Colorful Palette! My sister and I purchased a private watercolor class for my mom as a gift. We had never done watercolor and we were all nervous but Helen and Joel made the experience so wonderful! They did a great job of guiding us through the class--both teaching us technique but also allowing us to explore on our own. The experience was informative but also casual and fun at the same time. Their studio is such a creative and relaxing space, and they allowed us to bring wine and snacks in! Highly recommend The Colorful Palette and we can't wait to go back for future classes! Thank you Helen & Joel!

This is a gem of a place! I held a sip and paint night at The Colorful Palette for a fundraiser to support the South Jersey Alzheimer's walk. This was such a great night and Helen and Joel were awesome. We painted a Marsden Hartley painting and it was so much fun. My friends and I learned not only how to paint but also about the artist. We brought snacks and drinks and had a wonderful night. Helen and Joel are not only great artist but wonderful people.

I have participated in four Sip and Paint sessions at The Colorful Palette, and Joel is hands down the best instructor I have ever had in this type of setting. He deconstructs the famous paintings to basic steps that literally anyone can follow to build their own unique painting. You also learn more about the artist while both he and Helen provide feedback and more importantly encouragement. They also love it when students at their own unique twist or take chances with their creativity. Joel and Helen make these sessions so, so much fun. I can't wait to go back again.

I recently participated in a paint and sip at the colorful palette for my friend’s bachelorette. It was SO much fun! Helen and Joel are so warm and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door! They started with a little history about the artist we were doing a painting of which was educational, interesting and the perfect amount of learning! They provide a good amount of direction so you feel led but not pushed in a certain direction so you can find your inner artist! I, along with some of the rest of our group are perfectionists and they did not push us to finish in time & said groups usually finish later anyways! What a lovely experience! I would recommend them and the experience to anyone!!
