My sister in law was contacted by the owner through Facebook marketplace. The owner, Sarah, said they needed what she was selling for their “little school.” My SIL just ended up giving it to them because after all, it was a school. I looked into this because I was curious. It’s not a non profit and it doesn’t fall under the education codes. This is listed as a corporation- a for profit entity. We feel like like we were misled into donating about $300 worth of supplies because we were told it’s a school when it’s not.

TCC is truly an inclusive, magical place! Children are immersed in the natural world, free to play, get messy if they choose, create, talk, move, learn, care, disagree... All while learning to be in community with one another, the land, and the animals. The land there, and the facilitators, hold space for children to be themselves and explore their interests. The facilitators guide children through conflict resolution with wisdom that prioritizes autonomy and consent. My 10yo son has attended summer camp for three summers now and says he plans to attend until he's 16. He's chopped trees down (practicing caring for the forest and safe use of tools), he's cooked plum crisp (practicing using a knife, measuring, trying new foods, and showing care for the community through food), he's cared for the farm animals (learning how to feed them and nurturing his connection to animals), he's made videos (exercising his creativity and working in a group), but most importantly, he's gotten time to just *be* and enjoy all that summer has to offer. His favorite part of the camps has been conversing and connecting with the facilitators and other campers; it means a lot to him that the three core facilitators are there every year to welcome him. TCC is a bit of a trek for us from the city, but I will prioritize this camp every year! What a joy it is to pick up your child and see them dirty and content from a day of adventure, then drive home knowing they spent that day in a place that honors them for who they are.
