This studio is so welcoming and warm. It’s such a pleasure to step into the studio and be greeted by the owner Pat and all the friendly artists learning and experimenting. Over my 15+ years at this studio I have seen new artists (including myself!) who say they “can’t draw/paint” become accomplished artists under Pat’s instruction and with the encouragement of other artists. I highly recommend this studio for anyone, from beginners to experienced artists, who want learn and grow their artistic skills.

The Artists' Playground is a studio where you can explore a variety of mediums in a supportive environment, and receive peer and professional feedback on your work. Pat has a wealth of knowledge built from decades of experience as an artist and educator. My work has always benefitted from her keen eye and thoughtful suggestions. When I came to the Artists' Playground, I was looking to learn how to paint natural landscapes. What I did not expect was how much confidence I would gain from working with Pat and applying her philosophy of not being afraid to experiment to my paintings. I bless the day back in 2018 when I walked into the Artist’s Playground and said I would like to learn how to paint. I am so grateful that Pat saw something in me that I didn’t even know I had. What a joy it’s been to be with these incredibly creative women- and a few men!— all these years. It has enriched my life beyond measure. Pat rarely lectures and yet somehow she gives everyone exactly what they need, going quietly from person to person and giving them encouragement, praise, and instruction as they go. There are always different mediums going on within the same class, oil, acrylics, watercolor, even textiles and fabrics, and Pat instructs everyone in her peaceful, inimitable way. I have now self published two books of my cat watercolors and this would never have been possible without Pat’s instruction over the years. What a gift to me and to my grandchildren, and hopefully other children, it has been to be able to produce something lasting like this. I am thrilled to hear that Eric will be part of this wonderful adventure going forward, and look forward to the future of this special place.

I took art classes here as a kid, and it was an absolute blast! Unlike most super-structured classes, The Artists Playground gave me the freedom to have fun and be creative. There was always guidance available if you wanted it, but you were also encouraged to explore and make art your own way. It’s one of the most welcoming and supportive communities I’ve ever been a part of — a place where creativity, expression, and joy really thrive!
