The Artist's Apprentice runs themed summer art camps for ages 7-14, taught by founder Pamela Palmer (B.F.A.) and delivered largely through community-education enrichment programs rather than from its own studio. Camps include Bugs & Butterflies: A Wild ART Camp, where campers observe and create animals past and present in paint, drawing materials and clay, Treasures Under the Sea, and Drawing 101. Established in 2002 through the Youth Enrichment Program in Clarkston, it has since branched out into Lake Orion, Fenton, Davisburg and Rochester, and also offers one-to-one tutoring, private lessons, birthday parties and Scout badge sessions.

Powered by GoogleGreat teacher! My kids 12 and 14 just finished art camp with Mrs. Palmer. They learned so much and their art work is going on the walls!! Mrs. Palmer is such a wonderful teacher. She is very encouraging and very accommodating too. One of my kids mentioned that she loves working with clay and the next day they did a clay project. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We look forward to next Summer!
Highly recommend. My 8-year-old daughter Juliette took part in a sculpture camp led by Pamela and so very much enjoyed the time spent creating. She couldn't wait to bring her artwork home and share the pieces she was so proud of making! We are eager to check out Pamela's other class offerings soon.
My sons, ages 8 and 7, just finished their last day of The Art of Drawing camp with Pamela. They enjoyed this past week so very much and were extremely proud when presenting their work to me. Pamela plans such an amazing camp each summer. We have framed numerous drawings from prior camps and couldn’t be happier with our boy’s experiences.
Pamela has taught me so many techniques as a more advanced artist. She is truly a great teacher for any age and gives great advice. I definitely recommend her for your teenager, child, or even yourself.
I took a few private classes with The Artist’s Apprentice about 5 years ago with my 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter. I was so impressed with the patience and knowledge of teaching Pamela had with kids. She truly made our classes exciting with breaks outside to her pond and ice cream treats. Now my kids are teens and we still think about those amazing art classes. I am planning another group art class soon and I’m so excited that Pamela will be our instructor!!!!!
