Southwestern Ohio Basketball

Southwestern Ohio Basketball has always ran the cheapest leagues and tournaments throughout the city. They are always well staffed, and while to help keep costs low for the consumer, they don't have security on site, it is also the expectation that adults actually have to behave themselves at youth sporting events. We have always had great experiences here and are perplexed by the people who have not. There is a reason that they have had the longest running leagues in the city.

My son has learned so much about the fundamentals of basketball from the Drills n Skills training sessions. His team has also played in several winter league sessions so far and has had a great experience. They know how to run well organized leagues and tournaments and you can't beat their prices

Unfortunately1 star is the lowest rating, otherwise Southwestern Ohio Basketball would get a 0 star. Played in a 11/12th grade boys tournament on 5-18 at Kingdom sports center. In our second game we played a bunch of thugs from Ohio Ace Elite from the Dayton area I believe. From the very beginning of the game, parents and fans of theirs were threatening to fight my players after the game. They took one look at our team and assumed they were going to blow us out and when that didn't happen, they just couldn't accept it. We controlled the entire first half and was blowing them out 25-5 and after they shoved one of my players to the ground, and then shoved another one of my players that tried to help up his teammate and then a scuffle broke out. Their entire team immediately left the bench. One of their players ran around a tried to sucker punch of of my players and all hell broke loose. Next thing you know, all of their fans and players started attacking us. I had two 17 year old kids getting jumped by grown men. I had one get kidding his head slammed into the wall by grown men and another kid had 5 grown adults on top of him, kicking and punching him. I ran over to help and got them off of him and the the 5 guys started attacking me. It was complete mayhem and no one stepped in to help us. The refs just stood there, no cops or security were on site. The entire gym stopped and no one came in to help us they just watched everything unfold. Cops show up and no one even gets arrested. The workers said they have cameras but the person that could access the videos wasn't there. Not only did no one get arrested but we got kicked out of the tournament. I contacted Tom Sunderman of Southwestern Ohio Basketball and he not only refused to give us our money back, he immediately accused my team of being just as responsible for the fight. Tom was not on sight and did not see what happened and if he asked anyone there, they would have told him what happened. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. After that I simply asked him to help me get in contact with the person who has the security camera access and no help again. It has now been 5 days and I still haven't heard back from him. Tom and his organization is a complete joke. They have zero security of cops on scene to keep the peace and just care about one thing and that is money. I would avoid any Southwestern Ohio Basketball tournaments, but if you do find yourself playing in their tournament and you see Ohio Ace Elite on the schedule, go ahead and call the cops before the game starts.

Old boys’ patriarchal club. Instead of teaching boys how to be civilized humans, this organization EXCLUDES teams of girls because the boys might hurt them if the boys lose. Whoever made that decision is representative of ALL that is wrong in the world. This is 2024. Boys need to learn how to control their emotions and build resilience - but how can they when the men who should be mentoring them are little babies who can’t handle losing to girls? Pathetic and shameful. Why would anyone allow their child to play sports for this organization? Pull them out! It’s time for this kind of harmful behavior to STOP.

Instead of teaching good sportsmanship and respect for those of another sex, SW Ohio Basketball Tournament decided to exclude girls from their basketball tournament. What are these boys going to do later in life when girls are better than them at anything? Are they just going through life asking others not to be better than them? This was a teaching moment for children and will turn into a teaching moment for adults too.
