There is a complete difference from allowing a child to flail their hands in the air being unable to swim for 8.5 seconds of struggling, and a child that is working on getting from one side to another for that amount of time. Swim lessons were god awful. the man that teaches swim is super kind but elderly. He put my son in the deep section of the pool which was fine, but he can’t swim. He is 5. I’m on the other half of the pool with my youngest, the instructor thought he was out of the water when his mouth and nose were still submerged and he didn’t look at him to pull him up more. My son got out of the pool after about 9 seconds of struggling under water, I was yelling “help him” eventually he got him up more although he was right there. He was struggling horribly in the water unable to come up, splashing his arms, I’m literally sick to my stomach writing this. Never again. My son was terrified screaming crying out of the pool came to me shaking. Eventually the instructor came back to have him go around the rim of the pool and hold on. my son is terrified of swim lessons now due to their negligence. I’m cancelling my membership. Also, I called other local swim lessons and they said they have numerous people complain about this YMCA and their lessons.
Like the gym and daycare is really nice. But my kid is upset she cannot go in the adventure room until she is 5. We got here just before that rule was put in place when she was able to go in there before. So that’s a huge turnoff and one of the reasons we signed up. Also not liking how lax they let people work out here . Rules say footwear required but see 2-3 people walking around and exercising in socks- no shoes.
This establishment provides an excellent environment for networking and pursuing health objectives. The staff exhibited here are exceptionally courteous and consistently demonstrate a willingness to listen and assist others. The membership fees are quite reasonable, and I recommend the Y for individuals committed to improving their health and contributing positively to the community.
The staff is friendly but the monthly price just does not match the building and conditions. The equipment is decent but the free weight area is very small, the mens locker room looks like it was designed in 1980 cinder block walls and all. The price is crazy for what you get...I would have no problem paying more if the facility matched what you get. But a couple at nearly One hundred a month? yeah to much for this. They need to cut this price in half this would be more realistic.
The child watch here is phenomenal. Better than any other gun in Buffalo. Amy at the front desk really went above and beyond to help me get a membership and meet with a personal trainer. I honestly can't remember the last time I have experienced anyone so friendly and helpful in a professional setting. Bob is an excellent personal trainer and Austin is great too. Excited to be back at the Y for myself and my kids too.
