Southern Yacht Club runs a summer sailing camp on Lake Pontchartrain in the West End of New Orleans, where campers sail across several fleets under certified instructors and venture into the Municipal Harbor and lake. Beginner youth sailing (Optimist) starts around ages 8–11.

After Hurricane Katrina destroyed our city including the old Yacht Club, they have rebuilt it to be even larger and better laid out. It still boasts some of the finest sailing vessels in the Gulf South through incredible photographs through out the facility! The food is outstanding and the wait staff is superb, paying close attention to all details and to your every need. There's always something interesting and entertaining going on here. If you're looking for a place to belong, then look no further, as membership is required!
