★Casey KinneyMy experience with Slidell Youth Football Association during the October 2025 season raised serious concerns about professionalism and parent communication. When I asked about missing football pants, volunteer Afton Johnson spoke to me in a raised tone that felt aggressive and unprofessional while I was holding my 5-year-old’s hand. This occurred in front of other parents and children. I later received a phone call from coach Hakim regarding practice times, and the tone of the conversation felt hostile and unnecessary. I remained respectful throughout these interactions. However, the way concerns were handled made me uncomfortable and did not reflect the supportive environment parents expect from a youth organization. Due to this experience, I withdrew my child from the remainder of the season. I spoke directly with the Board regarding the incident. They stated they found no violations on behalf of the two volunteers involved. My concerns were dismissed, and no resolution was offered for the missing items I paid for. In my experience, this reflects poor accountability and negligence in handling parent concerns. Youth sports programs should model respect, professionalism, and positive communication for children and families. I hope steps are taken to improve standards moving forward.

★MikeI am shocked and ashamed to support SYFA. They are teaching the children to kneel during the national anthem and the parents are out of control. I donate money each year to all the different youth sports organizations in Slidell, but now I will donate to one less do to poor judgement.
