Powered by GoogleWe LOVE the Shady Grove YMCA location! Everyone is extremely friendly and there's lots to do for everyone in our family. The water park is especially fun!!It's always clean and well maintained! I can't find a negative thing to say!
Nice size YMCA with a competition pool for swim meets. The exercise equipment is usually easily available but the gym can't get extremely busy during peak times before and after work. Plenty of parking. Great soccer fields.
My nephew loves using the pool here especially the indoor slides. The place is always clean and well kept. The staff depends per person, but today we had the lifeguard Corinne who took her job very seriously. The pool was understaffed and she took it upon herself to watch everyone like a hawk and to make sure they were safe. She was also very personable and kind. She should be set as the standard for all the lifeguards.
When we first went here it was great! Staff was friendly and child watch was helpful. Now as of 12/6/25 it became a bit more strict and awkward. Aside from the heavy traffic with the high school students 4pm-6pm. The employees quite literally are on you the last three times I worked out there were these two employees who were breathing down your neck staring waiting for you to make a mistake like when I took off my sweater when I was lifting (I have body temperature issues where I get hot cold flashes etc so I like to keep it with me due to my fluctuating temperatures) I got called out on it okay sure I just decided to suck it up and keep it on cause I didn’t wanna keep going back and forth for it. She kept bothering these students who weren’t really doing anything (he was recording his lifts gently put it down still made noise and the employees got on him for it I felt bad for the dude).. it was just uncomfortable how intense these employees are. Swimming pool is quite cold for babies me and my bf were surprised on how cold the water was. Hours are not friendly for healthcare workers with a dedicated workout schedule. Also tried to go today on 12.6.25 as the hours said 6 am until 6pm and had an employee pull up to the parking lot to tell us they open at 8 am. So much for waking up extra early before work :/ If you child also has stranger anxiety unfortunately like mine who’s 8 months old if they cry longer then 10 minutes too bad your workout is over come get them asap. Safe to say I’m cancelling my membership however if you are single or a couple go for it.
It’s good activities and nice place for the kids and teenage but the trainers and instructors who suppose to practice the sports, cheerlead and dance not Professional at all. Even when you talk with any of them make you feel they do a favor when they response!!! Also some of them so rude and don’t respect the members. I wonder if you hate to work as a trainer why you push yourself in this position then?? The mangers in this location always helpful and good listener even if they have a lot to do during the day. Also any email they responded and helping remotely if they able to do that. The front desk is friendly and always smiling, happy to help in all the shifts.
